STURBRIDGE, MA Thursday & Friday June 24-25, 2010
Featuring
Dawn Fisher of Morning Glory Needleworks!
Yay! Dawn is teaching is teaching for Stitcher’s Hideaway once again and we are in for another fantastic Sturbridge retreat!!! Dawn has designed the Lady Washington sampler around the life of Martha Washington. Each sampler band represents a highlight from Martha’s life. As we learn numerous stitches, we’ll also learn about Martha’s life story. She was a fascinating person and an avid stitcher!
AND -- Jean Contino, Coordinator of Households, and Rebecca Beall, Collections Manager at Old Sturbridge Village will present “The Labor of My Youthful Hands” - a presentation focusing on early samplers, needlework and art from the Old Sturbridge Village collection! Featured pieces were created by young ladies in the late 1700s and early 1800s in New England, both at home and with instruction at academies. You don’t want to miss this!!
The retreat will be held at The Publick House Historic Inn, with lodging right next door at the Public House Country Motor Lodge. Built in 1771, the Publick House maintains its 18th century ambiance while providing 21st century comforts. The Publick House is located just 1 mile from Old Sturbridge Village. Our meals will all be provided by the Publick House, and I can tell you from first-hand experience that they are DELICIOUS!
Cris & Pam from Chris’s Collection will be on hand for our stash-enhancement needs. Attendees may email the shop about any particular items they would like brought to the retreat for purchase.
See you there!
