How exciting to have Jeannette teach for Stitcher’s Hideaway again -- and she has designed a wonderful patriotic sampler in celebration of our Independence Day!
Some years ago Jeannette spent some time exploring Connecticut with me. She was fascinated by the many American flags on display on houses, buildings, boats and more. When we discussed a patriotic theme for this retreat, a design almost immediately began coming to her. She stitched it up rapidly, too. I think she must have had a bit of a patriotic explosion take place in her mind! How fortunate for us because we now have this wonderful celebratory sampler.
At this retreat we’ll also be having an optional stitching exchange with a Patriotic Theme! Those who would like to participate will stitch something patriotic and finish it as an ornament, pincushion, fob, framed piece, etc. Participants will gift wrap their patriotic stitching to exchange with others.
There are some interesting things happening in the area around the time of the retreat. Some of you just might want to turn this into an extended vacation. On Monday, July 8th, is the Vintage Fashion and Textile Show in Sturbridge, MA, and the Brimfield Antique Show will be taking place on July 9-14. There is also Old Sturbridge Village to explore. We just might not want to ever go home!
The retreat will be held at The Publick House Historic Inn, with lodging right next door at the Public House Country Motor Lodge. Built in 1771, the Publick House maintains its 18th century ambiance while providing 21st century comforts. The Publick House is located just 1 mile from Old Sturbridge Village. Our meals will all be provided by the Publick House, and I can tell you from first-hand experience that they are DELICIOUS!
Chris & Pam from Chris’s Collection will be on hand for our stash-enhancement needs. Attendees may email the shop about any particular items they would like brought to the retreat for purchase.
