Kindred Spirits Retreat II
with
Ellen Chester
of
With My Needle

Wednesday & Thursday
, October 26-27, 2016
at the Publick House in Sturbridge, MA

Due to popular demand, a second Kindred Spirits Retreat with Ellen Chester has been opened!

How exciting to have Ellen Chester teach at a Stitcher’s Hideaway Retreat again! She will be teaching her Kindred Spirits Shaker carrier and we are so fortunate to have this opportunity!!

The retreat will be held at The Publick House Historic Inn in Sturbridge, MA and lodging is available both in the Inn, their new Chamberlain House,  and in their Country Lodges.  Built in 1771, the Publick House maintains its 18th century ambiance while providing 21st century comforts. Our meals will all be provided by the Publick House, and I can tell you that they are DELICIOUS!

On Thursday we are going to have a special presentation: “Constant Companions: Sewing Tools from the Old Sturbridge Village Collection: Though the making and mending of textiles for the family was a daunting task for many young ladies, having the proper sewing tools and accessories certainly made the work easier.  Many early 19th century sewing tools were also decorative or had sentimental significance for the owner.  Join Rebecca Beall and Jean Contino of Old Sturbridge Village for an exploration of sewing tools and accessories from the OSV collection including everything from thimbles and scissors to decorative work boxes and housewives.”

We will be having an Optional Kindred Spirits Stitching Exchange! Those who wish to participate must hand-stitch a finished object having something to do with friendship. It could be finished as a needlebook, ornament, pin cushion, fob, biscornu, framed piece, whatever! Bring your gift wrapped finished hand stitched object to the retreat and then participants will draw numbers and pick out a gift in numerical order.  It’s loads of fun!

We’ll also have a Show ‘n Tell time where we can show off our stitching or other crafts. It’s always inspirational!

Maeann & Gary of BushMountain Stitchery & Framing will set up shop at the retreat for our stash enhancement pleasure and they bring an amazing selection!  Among hundreds of other items, they offer increasingly popular European designs.  You’ll be able to contact them prior to the retreat with any special requests so that they can have them on hand for you at the retreat. Woo-hoo!!

The Publick House is located just 1 mile from Old Sturbridge Village -- a great place to spend a day before or after the retreat during our glorious New England fall.  If you haven’t experience fall here yet, well, you simply must!!

Registration is officially opened for this retreat!  Follow the links below for all the details.

See you there!
