Alumni Winter Escape 2013
Fun Report

Oh, how I look forward to each Alumni Retreat!  It’s so much fun to see everyone again, to catch up with each other’s lives, and to see each other’s WIPs (Works In Progress) and completed projects!  Sometimes our Show ‘n Tell goes on the entire retreat!

This Alumni Retreat was held in Mystic, CT, our old haunt.  There were 33 attendees that came from CO, CT, DE, MA, ME, NJ, NY, RI and Ontario.  There were several first-timers that joined us and they were great additions!

At the Alumni Retreat each person brings whatever they’d like to work on.  The variety of designs is just amazing to see!  We do a lot of stitching, but there is a lot of gabbing and giggling going on.  Every so often we heard of a “finish” and we all cheered and admired it.

We had generous donations for our Fun Packs and doorprizes!  They came from A Sweet Stitch, Calico Crossroads, Celebration of Needlework, Chris’s Collection, Elizabeth’s Designs, Giulia Punti Antichi, Jeannette Douglas Designs, Kreinik, Morning Glory Needleworks, Nordic Needle, Praiseworthy Stitches, Rosewood Manor, Tempting Tangles, The Prairie Schooler, ThreadworX, Victoria Sampler, With My Needle, and Karen Capello, a friend of Stitcher’s Hideaway!

At this retreat we had an optional stitching exchange.  All participants stitched up something to do with Spring and finished the stitching in some way -- framed, ornament, etc.  The variety of objects was awesome!

It was very difficult to choose from among such pretty packages!

Afterwards we displayed them together so that we could take pictures!

We had yummy meals catered by Mystic Market, and with each of us being on our own stitching schedule, many of us lingered long over meals and just enjoyed each other’s company.

Chris & Pam had set up a fabulous shop for us and we had a great time seeing many new designs and products straight from a recent market.  OH, boy.  Did we ever shop!  Hee-hee!

I was given a lovely gift of winter accessories.  Who knew I’d look like such a hot babe in braids?  I just know that you’re all jealous!  Probably GREEN with ENVY!  Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha!

Show ‘n Tell was great!!!  What a variety!

What a fun time we had!  For a stitcher it’s just the best -- spending 2 full days and nights with other addicts, admiring each other’s work, and furthering our own addiction!  LOL!!  And now I’m looking forward to the 2014 Alumni Events!!

Happy Stitching!

Sue
